45 minutes. Up to 300 students. Zero setup. $600 — covered by your Prop 28 arts allocation. We arrive. We perform. Kids talk about it for months.
Prop 28 gives every California school dedicated arts funding. But between finding an approved vendor, verifying standards alignment, and coordinating logistics — most of it goes unspent. Every year.
The bid process alone can eat up a whole quarter — if you even know where to start.
Sound systems, staging, staff coordination — most shows arrive and need half your team to make it work.
You've seen it. The show is fine. But students aren't moved — and neither are their behaviors.
Covered by Prop 28. No cost to your general budget.
We create original programming tailored to your school's curriculum, grade level, or specific SEL focus.
Talk to Us →Most schools pay thousands for an assembly that requires weeks of coordination. Here's what the $600 Play'N Around show actually delivers.
Call, text, or email us. Tell us your school, preferred dates, and show interest. We confirm availability within 24 hours.
As an LAUSD-approved vendor, we provide all the documentation your arts coordinator needs to process Prop 28 funding. Usually takes one email.

California's Prop 28 allocates over $1 billion annually to K–12 arts education. LAUSD alone received $76.7 million in 2023-24. Up to 20% can go directly to outside arts partners — like us.
Most schools don't know how to spend it before the year ends. We make it simple: pre-approved vendor status means one email from your arts coordinator is all it takes.
Research shows students retain far more from experiential learning than from lectures. Our shows are designed specifically around that insight — not just to entertain, but to change how students treat each other.
Our Story →"The BullyProof assembly was the single most impactful thing we did all year. Students were still talking about it weeks later, and we saw a measurable shift in how they treated each other. We booked it again for the spring."
"I had no idea our Prop 28 funds could pay for this. Robbie walked us through the whole process — literally one email to our coordinator and it was done. Our students got a full residency program and it cost our general budget nothing."
"Professional, seamless, and the kids were completely engaged from the first minute to the last. Students who never raise their hand were suddenly front and center. I've worked with a lot of arts vendors — this is a different level."
Play'N Around is a pre-approved LAUSD Arts Branch vendor and LA County Arts Bench member. Your arts coordinator simply cites our vendor status and uses Prop 28 arts funds. In most cases it's a single purchase order. We've done this hundreds of times and can walk your coordinator through it in 10 minutes.
We recommend booking 4–6 weeks in advance, especially for fall semester (August–October) and spring (January–March). Some dates fill faster. If you're thinking about it, reach out now — even if you're not sure about the date yet. We'll hold a spot while you confirm with your office.
A gym, MPR, or outdoor stage with 400–600 sq ft of clear performance space. We bring everything else: costumes, props, sound system, microphones, and performers. Typical setup takes 20–30 minutes. We arrive before students do.
Yes — with multiple shows on the same day. Many schools book a morning show for K–3 and an afternoon show for grades 4–6 (or 4–8), each at $600. This is often the most cost-effective approach for larger schools.
Anti-bullying and upstander behavior (BullyProof), personal safety and stranger awareness (Little Red & Stranger Danger), character development and keeping promises (Rumpelstiltskin), and kindness and generosity (The Elves & the Shoemaker). All shows are aligned to CASEL SEL competencies and LAUSD curriculum standards.
Yes. Play'N Around Theatre Company is an approved vendor with the LAUSD Arts Education Branch and a member of the LA County Arts Bench — the county's vetted roster of arts education providers. Both approvals make Prop 28 procurement straightforward for your school.
