Since 2023, California's Proposition 28 has guaranteed every public school arts-education dollars — automatically, no application required. This page explains what that means in plain terms and how to put it toward a Play'N Around program.
The Basics
What Prop 28 actually is
It's automatic
Prop 28 (the Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee) sends dedicated arts-education funding to every California public school district and charter school each year, based on enrollment. There's no grant application — your district already receives it.
It covers outside programs
Funds can go toward arts staff, but districts can also spend a portion on "arts educational partnership programs" — contracting with outside arts organizations like us for assemblies, residencies, and classes.

1. Ask your budget contact
Check with your site or district budget office on your current Prop 28 allocation and how much is set aside for outside arts partnerships this year.
2. Pick a format
Decide what fits — an assembly show, in-school residency, or classroom workshop. We'll help you match it to your budget and schedule.
3. Book the program
Tell us your grade levels, dates, and Prop 28 details through our booking form, and we'll send a program recommendation and quote.
