FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
Organized by what most people actually ask first: cost, scheduling, safety, and logistics.
Pricing & Budget
It depends on the format (assembly, residency, or class), group size, program length, and how far our team travels within LA County. We intentionally don't publish one flat number because it would either overstate a simple assembly or understate a multi-day residency. You'll get a specific, itemized quote after telling us about your school.
Schools typically use PTA/PTO funds, Title I enrichment budgets, arts-integration grants, or general assembly/enrichment lines. We can provide a simple written proposal formatted for whichever approval process your school requires.
Deposit and cancellation terms are outlined in the proposal we send after your initial inquiry, so there are no surprise terms buried in fine print later. Ask us directly if you need specifics before requesting a quote.
Scheduling & Logistics
Assembly shows are typically booked 4-6 weeks ahead. Residencies usually need more lead time since they involve coordinating with classroom teachers and multiple visit dates. If your timeline is shorter, reach out anyway — we'll tell you honestly whether it's realistic rather than let you assume.
Assemblies need a cafeteria, gym, or auditorium with room for seating and a small performance area, plus access to a standard power outlet — we bring portable sound. Residencies can run in a regular classroom. We confirm exact space and AV needs on a short logistics checklist before the visit.
Our programs are built around serving LA County directly. If you're just outside the county, ask — we'll let you know if it's workable and whether travel affects pricing.
Safety & Appropriateness
Yes. Play'N Around is an approved vendor and fully insured. Everyone who works directly with students completes Level 2 background screening before being placed in a school, and we're glad to provide documentation your office requires ahead of a visit.
Content is written and reviewed for the specific grade band it's used with. If a topic is sensitive (grief, bullying, a historical event), we'll walk through it with you before booking so there are no surprises for staff or families.
Yes. Participation is always invited, never required — students who prefer to watch rather than take part are never singled out. Let us know ahead of time about any specific accommodations your students need.
Program Quality & Outcomes
Because we don't start with the performance — we start with the learning goal. Every script is built backward from something specific a teacher or administrator is trying to accomplish, and every program includes a talkback or sing-along so students engage directly instead of just watching. That structure is what makes the message outlast the show itself.
Getting Started
Grade levels, approximate group size, preferred dates or date range, and what you're hoping students take away. Our booking form walks through exactly that.
